Feelin' A Little Crabby

"Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof."

Isaiah 42:10

Last Thursday, since we had plenty of crabs to go around, we had a crab feast.

The festivities started with trying to fish the crabs out of the live box without getting pinched. They started out with nets, but trying to detach the crabs from the side of the box (or better yet, from the bottom) with a net is no easy task.

Mrs. Brown sent down a pair of metal pinchers so they could pinch the crabs and the crabs not pinch them!

Daddy was trying any way he could....including trying to get the crabs to latch onto a sock. : )

It was slow going for a while....

But then another pair of pinchers arrived. : )

When they finally got them all in buckets, the crabs were carted up to the garage.

Awaiting their fate....

Ray loaded the pots and Sara put enough Old Bay on them to make any Marylander happy. : )

Gary decided he didn't want any of those creatures to escape! : )

Chef Gary and Chef Ray.....first time crab cookers

Back in the house, there were other preparations being made.....
Meatloaf burgers (for those that can't eat crabs),

sliced tomatoes, macaroni salad,

fried potatoes,.....as well as other mouthwatering goodies. : )

The Taxi Service

The first batch is ready!

And so is the crowd waiting for them!

Christina had the honors...

... of dumping the first batch. Come and get 'em!

The main part of a crab feast is the fellowship. Such fun!

The Inside Scoop

2nd batch....hot and ready!

Ray had the honors...of getting all the crab juice spilled on him. : )

The first batch was already dwindling...

Some opted for the general fare

Don't they look hungry???? : )

He may never have cooked crabs before, but he sure does know how to get into them! A few quick lessons and you may not have it down to science, but you sure are stuffed! : )

It was well after dark before the crowd started dispersing. A few of us decided to watch the 2nd moon that was rumored to appear shortly after midnight, but at 11:30 we found out that it was a hoax that is spread every year. The only reason to stay up til after midnight on Aug. 27th is to walk outside and look to see which neighbors were dumb enough to believe it...... (Thanks, Gary!) Well, it doesn't hurt to fall for it once. : ) : )

No pun intended, but this is the end. : )
