Christmas Reflections

As we have each year ever since any of us can remember, our family spent Christmas Eve at Pa Paw and Ma Maw's house. It was fun getting together with family that we rarely see other than at special get togethers.

Madelyn was chosen to deliver gifts. As you can imagine, the excitement of a little girl among the presents can make for quite an interesting evening, but once her ardor was somewhat subdued and she realized that not every one starting with an "M" was hers, things went a little more smoothly. : ) It was cute to watch her try to find the right person, sometimes turning in circles more than once.

Whew! This is a big one!

The little helper......maybe not so much of good will as it was of curiosity to see what was inside. : )

All the fun was wearing poor Gerald out! : )

Cayden and Valerie aka "Ball!". Earlier that afternoon, Valerie picked him up, and, pointing to herself, asked, "What is my name, Cayden? Who am I?" His quick response was, "Ball!" It took her a long moment to realize that every time she asked him, she pointed straight at her bead necklace.

All the hustle and bustle died down as the afternoon wore into evening and different parts of the family left. Gerald and Valerie along with our family stayed around for some quieter moments reflecting on years gone by ~ sharing memories and laughter along with deserts and a bite of supper in spite of the protests that "we've had quite enough to last us a while!" But Pa Paw, who keeps a strict schedule on meal times, insisted that it was already well past 6:00. : ) "Lunch is at 12 and supper is at 6. It doesn't matter if you eat breakfast at 11:55.......You have to eat lunch at 12:00 sharp!" : )

Late that evening, we loaded up and headed home with the expectations of having our own little family time of opening presents. What greeted us was a lovely prospect for Christmas time! Our sewer was backed up and the clog had to be located. Therefore, everything was put on hold until the lines were cleared. Dad, Ray, and Sara worked on it until it was determined that the clog was on the city's domain. Soooooo at 2:00 on Christmas morning, city got a call from the Workmans to come bust out a clot from our sewer line. Within a short time of their arrival, they had the line cleared and were wishing us a Merry Christmas as they packed up their truck and left. It left us wondering why we didn't do that in the first place! : )

In light of our adventurous evening, Christmas Day was much more lax than normal. Our plans for Christmas dinner (with the exception of the Brussels sprouts) were scheduled for later in the week, and we instead opened presents and just relaxed. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

"Hi!"

Get ready, get set, GO!

Hmmmmm......looks like someone has been munching. : )

Now this is what you call a keyring!

Okay, okay......so the package said "4x"! : )
