My Old Kentucky Home

This weekend we had meetings in Kentucky. It was a first time experience for most of us. The van kept running hot as we crossed the mountains, but as long as we turned the air conditioning off it did o.k. It was about a 5 1/2 hour trip through NC, VA, TN, and KY.....most of the time going up steep grades for long periods of time. : )

Sunday AM we were in Grethel, KY. It was SUCH a sweet little church!

If you've never met Daddy....he LOVES to talk! ; )

Sweet little Hunter

Sooooooooo adorable!!!!

Pastor and Mrs. Lesly

We had a wonderful time getting to know the Pastor and his family! Saturday night, we all hopped in the church van and went visiting. We really enjoyed meeting the people in the area.

Sunday afternoon, we loaded up and took a 2 1/2 hour drive over to a church in Corbin, KY.

We were met by a bunch of little guys wanting to carry our stuff in. How cute!

To be quite honest, by the end of the day, we were pretty worn out, but our day wasn't over yet.....we still had a 5 hour drive ahead of us. Maybe we've been a little spoiled since Ray graduated a few years ago, but it has been nice not to have to make those all-night drives. But the Lord gives grace to make it through, and gives safety to make it over all those mountains (literally!). Praise the Lord!
And today, we made up for it. : ) No early morning.....no hectic schedule..... Only coupon shopping, unpacking, cleaning, and fishing. : ) Oh, and did I mention the cookout??? : )

We also would like to thank all of those serving our country in the military at home and abroad. Through your willingness to serve, the Lord has granted us freedom. THANK YOU!!!
Happy Memorial Day!

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

O thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just;
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust!"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
