Allison was dubbed the firebug. : ) Really, it's a miracle she was even able to tolerate the smoke let alone constantly mess in the fire. She certainly enjoyed it!! It was her job to gather everything we would need to start the fire -- kindling, wood, pinecones, etc.
Soap, ple-e-e-e-ease!!
The fire required our undivided attention for several hours, but once it started burning the actual wood and not just the kindling, even the rain didn't put it out.
The first thing you think of when building a campfire is roasting marshmallows, but, not having any of those on hand, we opted for roasted apples and bananas. : )
Instead of playing "Where's Waldo" we can play "Where's the Banana". : )
Mmmmmmmmmm..........what can compare with eating of the "fruit of your labors"? ...no pun intended! : )
Ray, Sr., Ray Jr., and Sara spent some time on our land that Friday and Saturday scouting it out and seeing exactly what was around. So while the cats were away, the mice, of course, played. The remaining few visited the little museum at the campground which told about the surrounding "bay areas".
We also walked out on the pier. The Cypress trees growing out of the water were so beautiful in their fall colors!
