Today was the girls' day out....all because we voted! : ) We planned our route well, first going to the places where we just had to show our I Voted stickers as opposed to giving them up. Our first stop was at Books-a-Million to get our free Cup o' Joe hazelnut coffee (sweetened with stevia, of course). We're not coffee drinkers, but, hey, it was free! It's not every day that you get to take a girls' day out for FREE!
Our next stop was Krispy Kreme to get our free star-shaped, iced doughnuts with sprinkles on top. We even got free hats! I must insert here that we haven't been eating sugar....some of us for up to two and a half months. You would be shocked at how fast your taste changes! The unanimous vote??? "Ish be nashty!"
We were ready for a change of tastes by then. No more sugar!....we thought. : ) Chicken sandwich, here we come! And where would you go to get a chicken sandwich???? Chick-fil-a, of course! We went to the Chick-fil-a in the mall in Gastonia only to find that they weren't honoring the "get a free chicken sandwich if you voted" deal. : ( But they did give us a sticker for a free large coke! : )
Logically, our only recourse was to head to Shelby where they simply could not refuse us the coveted goodies.....right?!? As you can tell, we were duely rewarded for our perserverance. It was about 1:30 by then, and we were ready for lunch!
On our way home, we stopped by the Chick-fil-a in the Shelby mall and got some chicken sandwiches there. Ray Sr. and Jr. were going to be hungry when we got home! Some, as you can see, were hungry enough as it was. : )
Good times must always come to an end, and we were becoming a little weary of being indulgent voters. Make the best of the opportunity, we thought, as it only comes but once in a blue moon. I know, I know, "Yield not to temptation".....but as Mom says, " I wasn't tempted ~ I knew I was going to do it." : ) Besides, we had some pretty happy menfolk when we got home! : )
What a treat after a hard day at work!!
